I haven't posted in ages, mainly because my job (which I LOVE) has been out-of-control busy and I've been working almost every night. I hope it slows down because I did set some pretty ridiculous (and according to many, crazy) sewing goals before baby comes in January!
I did get a chance to go away with my husband for the weekend to Cleveland. He is a NFL fan (as am I, just less so) and he wants to see every team play in their home stadium. This won't be so bad for the North East teams, but he will definitely have to wait some time for those far-away teams (like the New Orleans Saints or Dallas Cowboys, for example).
Knowing the trip was coming I identified a quilt store I wanted to stop in, As well, one of the to-be-expected stops was at a Jo-Ann's. Batting in particular is SO much cheaper there (I'm so jealous!) so I picked up four baby quilt sizes and one queen size. I also picked up these:
The Star Wars print will back the Star Wars quilt I plan to make our friends' son, the other three prints are from Denise Schmidt's Jo-Ann line DS Quilts. I admired these last time I was in a Jo-Ann's and needed to get them this time.
I also picked out JEllen Fabrics as the one "quilt" store I wanted to go to.
Five yards of Kona White and four of these ADORABLE fabric book kits. I already know where two are headed and now I have decide where the other two will go. You know, in all my free time to make them.
Front of the store...I knew by the display window that this place would be awesome.
A glimpse down the length of the store
A wall hanging quilt on display. Oh my God, I need to make one.
I have nothing but good things to say about JEllen Fabrics. The employees were so nice and the selection was modern and quite varied. The owner herself appeared towards the end of our visit and was helpful and chatty. I would definitely recommend them if you are in the Cleveland area.
Another wall hanging. I love the aesthetic.
These were from the $5/yard section. Score! The grey crosswords from Tim and Beck will be the backing for one of the twin quilts I am working on. I got 2 or 3 yards of each since they were so cheap- great for backings!
Hmmm. Lots of turquoise here. The far left is a flannelette (and I LOVE flannelette and turquoise so this was a no-brainer), some more Tim and Beck (this one will back the baby girl twin quilt) and .
This last little bit of my favourite print from the Bungle Jungle line had to come home with me.
But, um, did you notice something? When you combine my Jo-Ann purchases and my JEllen purchases there was definitely a theme. A colour theme. Turquoise. See the picture below as proof:
Okay, even I can see that I have a problem. Especially since this is already a predominant colour in my stash. It doesn't help that the new baby will have a grey and turquoise nursery. Oh my.
And some fat quarters. LOVE.
I need to stop buying fabric. Like, seriously. Considering the day before I left for Cleveland I also took advantage of Pink Castle Fabric's 30% off everything sale, I know I am starting to get really close to STABLE (Stash Total Accumulation Beyond Life Expectancy).
If only I had time to sew with all this yummy, yummy fabric!!
