When thinking ahead to Christmas presents and what I wanted to actually make (and, therefore, had better get working on), one thing I was sure of was that I wanted to make a quilt for my best friend's son. He is three and loves trains, cars and books. I initially thought I would use fabric from my *gasp!* stash, but changed my mind. I do have some cars and trucks but nothing that really spoke to me as a whole quilt. Then it occurred to me- my friend is a Seuss nut, and so is her son. I madly started looking for fabric but could only find the really soft colours from the Seuss II line. I wanted original Seuss line and I finally found some- on Christa's Quilts. I love that this store has $10 flat international shipping and, most importantly, they had my Seuss prints!
The package arrived Thursday:
This fabric will be for the backing, a colourful list of Seuss titles.
These fabrics will make up the quilt top:
And this black and white print will be the binding (and maybe some squares on the quilt, I haven't decided yet):
Here they are all together:
And since all orders over a certain amount get a free "treat" from Christa, I picked a flannel fat quarter. Adorable, right? Might need to make something for my nephew with it.
I am going to use this Road Trip Quilt pattern from Cluck Cluck Sew.
