Rainbow Stripe: Quilt Finish

Despite the fact that my sewing time has recently been reduced to zero, I managed to finally finish the binding on my Rainbow Stripe quilt. For more process on this quilt, see these posts:

The pattern for the quilt came from Cluck Cluck Sew. It came together so beautifully, and it makes me want to dive into many of her other patterns. In fact, I have already chosen her Road Trip Quilt pattern to make a gift for my friend's son for Christmas!

For the quilting I used my walking foot and did alternating rows of double lines. This means that one strip would have two lines of stitching about 1/4" from each seam, and then the strip next to it would have no quilting. For the flipped portion I quilted the opposite strips that I did in the main body of the quilt. I also did straight lines in white down the two white sashes.

I am completely in love with this quilt, which will hang in my daughter's bedroom for now.
The binding is black with white dots. I thought it would look great with all the crazy colours on the front! I hand stitched the back of the binding because I like the look of the finish better (so far) than machine binding.

Quilt top, flat so you can see all the strips.

The backing is a solid piece of Bonnie and Camille's Houndstooth in Aqua. I love it!

Now I just need to carve out some more sewing time!
